Steve has posted this Image on BlueSky (and probably elsewhere) and wrote:
Steve Rothery and I are working towards the finishing post now with our album recording, alongside Riccardo Romano who’s engineering and on keys… It already sounds amazing!
So there is hope this will finally come in 2026!

I have to say that while l like the original album version of this song, I absolutely LOVE the live version from Phil’s first solo tour. Especially the version from the final show at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. If you’ve never heard that specific version, head over to Simon’s Movement site and download the Captured Live radio show from RKO Records featuring songs from that night. I uploaded a torrent of it here:

Funny thing: IMO these are all mid-tempo songs.

I loved i/o...
However I wouldn't mind a return to some up-tempo material for at least a few songs, a la Shock the Monkey, Big Time, Steam and Growing Up.

PG has talked about this in full moon updates. My recollection is that he likes the slower tempo, though his producers (and other Real World folks) sometimes push for something with a faster tempo. When I was younger I would've preferred faster songs. Now I'm pretty content with whatever speed he chooses. I'm a pretty big fan of Scratch My Back (other than the last two tracks): it's melancholic with lots of slower songs. Big feels.

Yes, you are right: There is not that much up-tempo stuff on i/o.
I was missleaded by "less melancholic" - which is for sure not the main focus on that album. Even if there are still some songs of that kind. The rather lighter mood and the grand gestures throughout the arrangements led me to a wrong impression.
Well, Gabriel hasn't done a real up-tempo song for a long time now. Mid-tempo seems to be his passion. But on i/o this mid-tempo is better concealed than in the times around Up.

well ... no
I like i/o a lot, but there are not a lot up-tempo tracks.
Even Road to Joy is rather slow. You have the title track and Olive Tree. And the up-lifting finale.
Then there are several slow tracks, which have a lot of Melancholy: Playing for time, So much, Love can heal, And still...
plus tracks like Four kinds of horses and This is home, which are somewhere in the middle.

Thanks from my side too! I've been taking part in the quiz for years by now. The questions have become more tricky and more and more fun over the years!
I don't leave any comments there any more, I don't like the hateful comments of some German users. But I love the quiz no matter what.
