The Genesis Show

  • Greater Philadelphia area (yes, that includes you, NJ, Delaware, NE Maryland, southern NY, and anywhere else in PA), after seeing these guys at the Keswick last December, then Steve Hackett in February, then The Musical Box and Trespass in March, why not top it all off at the Scottish Rite Auditorium on April 21st by seeing The Genesis Show again? That's right! There's no good reason not to! [Blocked Image: http://www.conforums.com/boardimages/grin.gif]

Here's the link again - see you there!

Final reminder! Today's the day! 8)

  • Well, this band fits a need. We have "The Musical Box" to wonderfully commemorate the Gabriel era (among many other great bands on both sides of the pond), but "The Genesis Show" is to the 4-man band what TMB is to the 5-man (musically anyway - they don't look like them back in the day).

In short, their setlist is basically "Seconds Out" with a few extras - last year, the extras were "All In A Mouse's Night", "One For The Vine", and "Inside And Out"; this year, from feedback received from their fanbase, they incorporated songs from the 1976 (and very early 1977) tour ("Lillywhite Lilith", "The Waiting Room", "Inside And Out" (again - thank goodness), "Wot Gorilla?", "The Cinema Show" and "IT/Watcher Of The Skies"). I bet before too long they may even play "White Mountain"...

Well, if you can see them, by all means go - they are outstanding!

    ...and a final P.S., then I'll stop writing about them...maybe... ;)

They did the full "Unquiet Slumbers For The Sleepers" and "In That Quiet Earth" before "Afterglow", which made everything even more wonderful. 8)

You can tell that they are just a bunch of Genesis fans themselves who had the musical ability and the interest to commemorate their favorite era of the band. I for one am very grateful. I think I even saw the one of the webmistresses from the old Genesis-Music.com forum dancing with joy in the front row - an added special treat! ^^

OK, I accidentally lied - a P.P.S. for you (and that really should be it...I think...

    They also played "Entangled". 8)

    That is all (possibly).

  • "Accidentally lied" - If Donald Trump ever reads this forum, I'll bet he makes a mental note of that one! ;)

    There is a church bell

    That rings on the hour

    Filling the streets

    Stopping the world awhile

  • ...and the first new show has been announced!

Saturday, June 16 in Vineland, NJ at the Landis Theater:

    https://landistheater.com/event/the-genesis-show-2/

(on the sales page on their website, it says that the tickets may not be on sale until May 19 - try the link; if it doesn't work, try the phone number)

They are truly outstanding! Scroll above to learn more about them.

(Also, in July, if you are in the greater Philadelphia area, Trespass are playing again in Bryn Mawr - see the thread in this Tribute Bands area for Trespass to find the link for tickets.)

Stepping out the back way, hoping nobody sees...

  • ...and my ticket arrived in the mail today! So, the thread is live if you wanted to go. Lots of good seats left.

If you are a fan of the 1976-1977 live shows, you will do no better than this band. Treat yourself to a great evening of Genesis music! 8)

Stepping out the back way, hoping nobody sees...

  • Bump for next Saturday's show! Tickets still available!

Stepping out the back way, hoping nobody sees...

  • ...and the show is today!

If you can get to south-central NJ, you owe it to yourself to be there!

I'll give a review as soon as I can - it may not be until Monday.

Stepping out the back way, hoping nobody sees...

  • Well, this band is one of the most amazing cover bands for Genesis. They are to the 4-man era what The Musical Box is to the 5-man era.

    The setlist (not in order):

It/Watcher of the Skies (like on "3 Sides Live")

    Supper's Ready

    I Know What I Like

    Firth Of Fifth

    The Cinema Show

Lamb Stew (TLLDOB/Fly on a Windshield/Broadway Melody of 1974/Carpet Crawlers)

    Dance On A Volcano/Los Endos

    Entangled

    Squonk

    Robbery, Assault, and Battery

    One For The Vine 8)

Blood On The Rooftops (yes, really!)

Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers/In That Quiet Earth/Afterglow

I will never miss this band; they are just too good. If you are in the Northeast US, keep your eyes and ears open for them. Fully recommended.<3

  • This is the master setlist now. :)

  • The next show for The Genesis Show is at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA on December 29th. Coincidentally, it is almost an anniversary show of the last time they played the Keswick on December 30th last year.

They haven't posted the show on their webpage yet, but here it is regardless:

...and that show is coming up this Saturday! 8)

Apparently, they are doing selections from "Three Sides Live" as an encore, after doing "Seconds Out" in its entirety - if I remember correctly, it will be selections from the 4th live side as released outside of North America (so, my song, The Fountain Of Salmacis, and It/Watcher of the Skies will probably make an appearance as well).

    Show report later...
