I am quite impressed by them. The use of quarter tone steps in the bass and guitar parts does give the material a really interesting sound. Some Middle Eastern music uses quarter tones, so maybe that is where Micklemus is getting that association. Also as mentioned, the guitarist/bassist is very skilled at using looping pedals.

I like this song. I like it enough that I bothered to learn how to play it on piano as a teen. It has lovely melody and the lyrical focus, as mentioned above, seems to be someone contemplating the end of life. I like the fairly simple production. I wish some of the songs on Car had similar treatment - Humdrum and Here Comes the Flood were too over the top.

Listening to quite a bit of metal lately, I'm fascinated by this cover of Shock the Monkey sung by Ozzy.

Bit of a downer but a decent tune. Sounds like if Peter sang a Genesis song from w&w/ attwt to me. 10.

15 points from me - a Genesis classic all the way!
I love the moment it crashes in after 'Entangled', it's positively thrilling. A Trick of the Tail is an album that always gets me excited from the get-go and 'Squonk' is obviously one of its major tracks thematically with the return of its themes in 'Los Endos'.
The Led Zep connection is well known, and Phil adds the Bonham-feel to Mike and Tony's themes. Another track too, that probably wouldn't exist without Mike's initial inspiration and…

I've been looking for help with something and I thought maybe someone on this board might be able to help.
My parents got together in Arizona the 80s. Love was in the air. They had a bit of a tumultuous start to their relationship. It's family legend that one of my great uncles even told them "I'll give it 6 months" when he heard about their engagement. They made it to…

PG2 is not an album I play that often, it must be quite a few years since I've listened to the entire album. 'Indigo', I feel, is one of its better tracks. The lyrics are a bit of a downer for an oldie like me, focusing on mortality as they do.
The words emote a 'Meet On The Ledge'-type atmosphere, no doubt comforting for those who feel they're about to be reunited with loved ones upon expiring, but not so cheery for the likes of me, who see expiration as complete finality. Not that I have an…
