Preparing for the concert the 21st in Amsterdam, I was just listening to Genesis alias the shapes album.
Little quiz-question: this album hasn’t got something that all the other albums have. So what is it?
(it is not the lack of b-sides)

A title?
Nope. You have to figure it out while you’re listening to it
No song longer than 7 minutes ? (if we consider HBTS and SHBTS to be two different songs).
I'm going to interrupt this thread because Henry Hamilton-Smythe 's comment reminded me of something funny. I used to order vinyl by mail from the UK pre-internet, and once ordered an album by Genesis called "same" as that how it was listed in this fairly rudimentary paper catalog I had. I was so excited for this totally unheard of album to arrive and beyond intrigued as to what it might be (it was Genesis).
D'oh. Also, I've no idea what the answer is but the 7 minute thing sounds right except I'm sure FGTR doesn't have a 7 minute track on it?
It has to do with Phil….
It has to do with Phil….
Regular (non-electric) drums?
Well, I thought about that too, bit IT also has some songs with Simmons drums (IT, TTT...).
And, if we think the other way around, Shapes also has songs with regular drums (It's Gonna Get Better).
You are heading in the right direction…
Well, I'm not a drummer, but... I think I found something.
Phil uses only hi-hat cymbals, there isn't a single use of any ride cymbal.
Phil playing a trumpet?

yes! That’s it! Well done.
Well, I must say I'm quite proud of myself...
When you said it had to do with Phil, I checked his vocals but found nothing special, so I focused on his drumming.
By the way, I said something a bit wrong, Phil does not exclusively use hi-hat cymbals, there are some crash and china cymbals too, usually at the end of every "cycle" - musicians will understand what I mean. But to set the tempo, by playing 4th, 8th or even 16th notes, he only uses hi-hat cymbals.
That is an interesting bit of trivia. Has he given an explanation why he avoided using ride cymbals?
I don’t know but I guess it didn’t fit well with the Simmons drums…
