  • The dreadful cover instantly goes into competition with Sylvan's laughable Spiritus Mundi.

Admittedly I have no interest in hearing this album but as always I stand to have my prejudices challenged.

Indeed, it's not a good cover, BUT, as G64 (as his friends call him!) says, she has a great voice, PLUS she writes really good songs. Well, so far she has. I have her 4 track EP, Shadow, from 2010, and it's excellent. (In fact, better than her brother-in-laws efforts in more recent times.) If you'd like to hear it, I'm sure that can be arranged. I think they are all on Youtube anyway.

Just ordered the CD, first 200 copies signed!

  • ^ I just listened to Shadow and found it on the whole quite dull. The title track is a bit like a less-good KT Tunstall (who I like a lot) so there were nice touches. The best of the four for me by some way was Spiral which was nicely atmospheric. The other two were like breath on glass, fading as I was listening.

I'd agree with that, Shadow is good, and spiral is excellent, the bass really makes it work

  • 😆

I love it. Not as ghastly as Spiritus Mundi (it's not possible in a universe of universes for anything to ever top that) but it channels the same energy. That's the energy you use when you are scrambling to find a teaspoon with which to scoop your eyeballs out of your skull so that you never have to witness such atrocities again.

  • If it sounds like it looks it must sound fantastic! ;-)

Anyway, it looks like the cover designers are the same as the ones who do the "design" for Steve Hackett's latest works.

    No!

Oh blimey don't tell me they've given him a perfect tightly-clad arse too.

  • I'd say the cover was trying to emulate Roger Dean, unsuccessfully, obviously, but that's kind of where it seems to be pointing.

Oh it absolutely is Dean-Lite, as are so many album cover artists who've read the Prog Album Cover Cliches For Beginners primer from cover to cover.

  • Thanks for this info! I would never have found out about this album without your posting. Looks like promotion is mainly social media these days?
